The Newcomer Class and "All About Me" Books

Today our student teacher, Ms. Prather, taught the Newcomer class how to create a book using the paper they made last week.  They wrote the title of their book on the front page: All About Me.  After that, they drew their favorite things on the pages and wrote what that was on the opposite page.  They drew and colored using oil pastels.  After their drawings were complete, they used yarn to attach all the pages on the corners.

Last week the students had fun creating the paper.  It was a messy procedure, but well worth it!  Ms Prather made paper pulp ahead of time with paper scraps we saved in the art room.  After the demonstration the students were off to their stations.  They worked together, 2 at a station, to make 1-2 pieces of paper of each color.
