Here is what Smithland students will be making in art class the second week of school:
Pre-school: They will be finishing their "Art Materials Book" to learn about different art materials and how to share them during art class and learn safety procedures.
Kindergarten: These students will be finishing their longer "Art Materials Book" to learn about the various art supplies they will be using throughout the year. They will also practice sharing, safety, and how to take care of the materials.
1st Grade: These students will be creating an "Expressive Hands" drawing. They will trace their hand at least twice on a coffee filter and design them with many different types of lines and shapes.
2nd Grade:The 2nd graders will be drawing portraits of themselves in the style of joan Miro. We will be learning about line with this project.
3rd Grade, 4th Grade and Newcomers: All of these classes will be finishing their sketchbooks that they will keep in the art room for the school year. We will use these books for many things: sketching ideas for art projects, writing, and free drawing after art projects are completed.
