Third Graders have been learning about color and space these past several weeks. They used real leaves to trace and also drew their own leaves to create an interesting composition on their paper. During the next class they learned about imtermediate colors and the color family of cool colors. They mixed colors to create blue-green or blue-violet and painted their background with that color as well as blue and white. During the next class they learned about warm colors and painted their leaves with this color family. On the last day they learned how drawing details on a painting can make an artwork look more finished and interesting. They used oil pastels to draw designs on their leaves and in the background. The results are fantastic!
