Kindergarten Lunch Tray Art

Our student teacher, Ms. Prather, has been teaching the kindergarteners about health eating habits.  On the first day of this project they discussed why it is important to eat healthy and talked about some examples of healthy food.  The students painted random prints using healthy fruits and vegetables.
They were ecouraged to overlap the prints and even go off of the page with the vegetable of fruit.  The students had a lot of fun painting with food!
On the second day of the lesson, the students review what they had painted with last week and talked more about different types of healthy foods.  Ms Prather then showed them how to trace squares on the back of their painted paper and glue them onto a background paper to create a lunch tray.  When they were finished they drew silverware on the side.
